New Sheringham site for New Wine church
2014 - The New Wine Church in North Norfolk has acquired a new wineskin, but much work is required before they can move in, and planning is underway. Tony Rothe reports.
The church recently purchased the former Sheringham Social Club
premises at the corner of Holway Road
and Cromer Road, Sheringham
. This will provide a regular meeting place for the church, as well as a base to expand the work the church is involved in, serving the local community.
Renovation and conversion work will be required before the opening of the building in late 2014 / early 2015
. Design work is being carried out by Norwich consultants; Barron + Smith Architects
, together with Robson Liddle Structural Engineers
. Both companies operate nationally from a number of studios across England and are part of the NPS Group.
New Wine Church
started as a small group of people meeting in Sheringham fifteen years ago. The church met in function rooms and then Sheringham Community Centre. Currently, around 150
people from Cromer, Holt, Sheringham and the surrounding villages currently meet in Sheringham Primary School
Twelve years ago, New Wine Church purchased Lushers Bakery
premises in Sheringham High Street
, and converted this to provide a centre for Yesu
, a project which serves the local community. Today, Yesu is serving in Cromer, Sheringham, Holt
and Melton Constable
, one of the leaders of New Wine Church
“We are very excited about this new building, which will not just provide us with a place to meet on a Sunday but will also give us additional facilities to continue and expand the work of Yesu enabling us to make a greater contribution towards serving the local community.
