Christian worship which can change lives
Nikki Wright is a wife, mother of two, runs an interior design business and is the director of the new Burn initiative in Lowestoft which launched on March 7.
Nikki is also part of the worship team at St Mark’s Oulton Broad in Lowestoft and, with husband Charles, leads worship slots at the Norwich Burn and the North East Suffolk Filling Station.
Part of Nicky’s inspiration for, and love of, Christian worship comes from her own dramatic experience of healing during worship as she explains.
“In 2011 I was in the middle of my first year of a dance degree at UCS, Ipswich, when I went down with a virus that led to 15 months of chronic post viral fatigue. I was devastated, and had to defer my studies.
“I felt that the Lord had instigated the dance initiative and couldn’t understand what was happening. My freedom was so restricted, but I felt Jesus drawing me to his word; particularly the story in 1 Chronicles:25:1 about King David setting up 24/7 worshippers to minister to the Lord around the Ark of the covenant.
“I didn’t understand why this was until I had a call from my sister saying she was going to a worship event in East Sussex called “David’s Tent”, when I looked at the website, there was the scripture from Amos 9:11. “ In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David, the fallen hut or booth, and close up its breaches; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,” (amp) Something resonated in me, I had to go.
“I had already knew God was leading me into a new place of worship and thanksgiving at home, even though I didn’t experience any physical difference. The Saturday at David’s Tent was phenomenal, the presence of God was so thick and I felt my faith level rise, I heard the Holy Spirit whispering to my spirit “you can dance and you won’t hurt yourself”, so I did, and as I did a joy came, I danced for two hours non-stop, and felt good!
“In the evening there was a prophetic word inviting those to stand who felt they could not fulfill their destiny or purpose due to sickness or injury, I stood with about 14 others, and over 1000 people prayed for us for 15 minutes. I drove home that night! I can only express my deep gratitude to an amazing God who loves and cares for us, who so desires to be in relationship with us, and heal us physically and emotionally.
“Since then we have been involved in the worship at the Olympic Burn in London, which started two weeks prior to and 24-7 during the Olympics. Something happens in the atmosphere when we seek to obey the first commandment; in worship we focus on God and declare who he is.
“Atmospheres change, particularly when we worship in unity across the denominations and generations. We find that people who come into that atmosphere are changed, healed and restored.
“We feel so passionately about this that we have a team starting Burn Lowestoft, which was launched by Global Burn Director Jamie Dickson, on Saturday March 7, at St Mark’s Church, Oulton Broad in Lowestoft.”
