Salvation Army Easter celebrations in Norwich

Events across Easter at The Salvation Army in St Giles Street include Good Friday service, Easter Saturday concert and Easter Sunday services

SalArmyCGreenEaster begins with a Good Friday service at 10.30am, to be followed by an open-air service at Hay Hill.

Youth take the spotlight in this year’s Easter Saturday concert at 7pm with two very talented soloists who are already making names for themselves in the musical world.

Charlie Green (pictured right) shot to fame after appearing in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2008. The 18-year-old singer from Droitwich already has two albums to his name, comprising a mixture of jazz, pop, swing and contemporary songs. He also plays piano, trumpet, cornet and bass guitar.
Thomas Nielsen (pictured left) is 14 and hails from Croydon, where he is actively engaged in Salvation Army musical activities. A talented cornet player, he is already in demand as a soloist around the UK. Recent engagements have taken him to Scotland and Northern Ireland, and last month was the chosen principal cornet at a Salvation Army UK youth event in Bournemouth.

Charlie and Thomas will be supported by Norwich Citadel Band and Choir, who will also be making musical contributions to the programme.

Tickets for the event are £5 (concessions £4) and can be obtained from The Salvation Army in St Giles Street (office hours), telephone 01603 620747, or on the door.

On Easter Sunday services will be held at 10.30am and 6pm, this year’s guest preacher is Commissioner Bill Cochrane from the Army’s International Headquarters in London.
