South African pastor set to lead Norwich church

A Norwich church is set to welcome a South African minister, and former dentist, as its new lead elder in early November.

The fellowship at Meadow Way Chapel (MWC), based in Hellesdon, Norwich, is looking forward to the arrival of Rev Cedric Poole and his wife Chris.
Cedric is a Senior Pastor with the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, coming to the end of a five-year invitation at Alberton Methodist Church, south of Johannesburg.
In early 2013, he and his wife Chris decided that at the end of their tenure at Alberton they would like to move to the UK for the next part of their ministry. When visiting Chris’s elderly father in the Manchester area in January 2014, they sensed a strong call to minister in Britain, so in April that year Cedric informed his leadership that he would not be available to renew his invitation when it came to an end in 2015.
Prior to taking up full-time ministry in 1994, Cedric had a private dental practice. He is a Batchelor of Theology, a Bachelor of Dental Science and holds a MScMed in Medical Ethics and Health Law. He and Chris, a registered nurse (SRN), have been married for 33 years and have three children, Candice (32), Stuart (30) and Abigail (20).  Candice lives in Milton Keynes although currently is working in Zanzibar with her husband and young daughter. Stuart is a doctor in the eastern Cape of South Africa. Abigail is coming to Norwich with Cedric and Chris.
MWC Chairman of Elders, Kevin Medler said: “We feel encouraged and blessed as we have seen the Lord direct us to Cedric, who comes to us with a passion for intergenerational worship, a pastor’s heart and gifted Bible teaching.  We are excited about the future as Cedric joins us and we worship and serve the Lord together at MWC and reach out in the community around us.”

Cedric will be taking up his post early to mid November. An inauguration service has been planned for Sunday November 22 at 10.45am in the Hellesdon Community Centre followed by lunch in MWC. Anyone who would like to attend will be very welcome.
