Norwich Youth for Christ release Hunted nativity video

Last night Norwich Youth for Christ launched their new video on YouTube, featuring local young people in a twist on the nativity story using the format of Channel 4’s ‘Hunted’.

At 7pm on Wednesday, December 14 Norwich Youth for Christ (YFC) launched their latest video 'Hunted Christmas Special (Parody)' on YouTube which they have made in partnership with Meadow Way Chapel.

Rupert Appleton, Norwich YFC Student Youth Worker at Meadow Way Chapel said: “We took the young people who were really passionate and worked with them to come up with a new project. The young people very soon had the idea of a short film of the nativity with a modern twist that's never been showed or combined before, based on Channel 4's TV show 'Hunted'. They have done an amazing job!”

The six and a half minute parody is packed with intelligent humour, suspense and excellent acting.  It uses the thriller format of the programme, Hunted, where a team of expert hunters try to find ordinary people who go on the run.  The film follows a modern day surveillance team tracking the wise men in a chase across Norwich city centre as they go to find the baby Jesus and his parents.

Rupert said: “This project brought the young people’s ideas together and sheds a really different light on the nativity. It's been a great partnership project for Meadow Way Chapel to be involved in.”

The short video is a light-hearted and entertaining but thought provoking resource that Norfolk churches could use in their Christmas services over the next couple of weeks.

The new nativity video is just one of the many initiatives that Norwich YFC has been involved in during the last term.

In their winter newsletter which begins with a moving tribute to Dan Lawrence, North Breckland YFC youth worker who sadly died last month, Director Nick Blanch writes: “What will your legacy be? As someone once said “the only thing we can take into heaven is other people.” I am therefore determined to ensure we continue to communicate good news.

“This term we have been able to run over 100 youth clubs and cafe’s, start a new partnership with Taverham Evangelical Church, run Encounter twice one of them at 3 am in the morning!!, run 3 Anti Bullying Roadshows in high schools, deliver a variety of lunch clubs, lessons and assemblies, produce a Christmas nativity film and launch Tracks, our mobile recording studio!”
