Carrow Road stages Norwich church charity match

A lively crowd of 650+ at Norwich City’s Carrow Road stadium saw two church football teams play an entertaining match while raising £2500 for two worthy charities.

SOUL Church, based in north Norwich, took over the stadium for its Overs & Unders match which saw the experienced over 30s run out 4-2 worthy winners over their younger counterparts.

Goal scorers were Justin Fox (2), Robbie Knights and Phil Lee, with Lee Daniels & Josh Mann chipping in for the Unders.

The Overs were managed by England and Chelsea legend Barry Bridges whilst the Unders had life-long Crystal Palace fan Terry Peddle at the helm.

SOUL Church pastor, Jon Norman, who played for the Overs, said that the match was played in great spirits raising £1250 each for two great initiatives, locally for YMCA Norfolk and globally for a Philippines outreach centre.

The evening’s entertainment began with the kids matches involving Soul Church, Surlingham and Cringleford.

“Soul Church are planning this as an annual event and would also like to place on record a huge thank you to Norwich City for their hospitality,” said Jon.
