New Book Club to read Julian's Revelations in two years

The Friends of Julian of Norwich are launching a new monthly Book Club which will meet to read and discuss Julian of Norwich’s Revelations of Divine Love over the next two years.

On Friday, July 6, 3.20pm-4.50pm the Friends of Julian of Norwich are launching The Julian Book Club.  On the first Friday of each month at the Julian Centre in Norwich you can join with others over tea and cake to share what you thought and felt about one of Julian of Norwich’s visions or ‘shewings’.

Howard Green, a Trustee of The Friends of Julian of Norwich, said: “Julian’s Revelations of Divine Love are perhaps not best read all in one go. The Julian Book Club invites you to a slow encounter with the first book written in English by a woman, one vision a month.”

Each session will finish with around 10 minutes of silence arising out of a short passage from that month’s ‘shewing’.

The Barry Windeatt translation of Revelations of Divine Love is recommended, available from the Julian Centre, and members of the group can point each other to supplementary material.

The group will finish in time to attend mass at St Julian’s Church at 5pm if you wish.

Please sign up via the Julian Centre or email  There is an open invitation to dip in and out as you wish.

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

To pay for that service, we rely on our partner organisations, advertisers and readers to, in turn, support us financially. We want to keep the website free for everyone to access and continue to be able to pay for writers to produce the content you can enjoy every day.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.

Because we are part of a registered charity we can reclaim Gift Aid on your donations if you are a tax-payer.
