NYFC40Norwich Christian charity on the move

Norwich Youth for Christ is relocating their premises after 12 years to take up residence at newly formed Mousehold Hub just North of the city.

Norwich Youth for Christ’s Director Nick Blanch said, “It’s been fantastic to hire premises on St Giles Street from the Salvation Army and we’re grateful for our time here.” The office of the Christian charity that supports and engages youth people with the gospel message is moving to Mousehold Hub, formerly Silver Road Baptist Church. Nick joked, “We seem to have a love of stairs as once again we will be taking the top floor!”

The new site gives the charity some unique opportunities including being able to use the other rooms for youth outreach and activities and street parking is available. The move ties in well with the launch of Norwich Youth for Christ’s new project called ‘Boost’.

Boost is for young people who are struggling at school and will offer alternative provision to mainstream education. Nick said, “We’re still in the throes of development but the plan is that students will work with us a day a week to help boost their self-esteem, confidence and aspirations thereby helping to prevent exclusion or disengagement from education.” The charity is currently in discussion with a secondary school to run a pilot project starting sometime in the Autumn term.

The charity is holding their 40th birthday celebration showcase event on September 15 at Witard Road Baptist Church, NR7 9XD. The drinks reception will be from 6.30pm and the Showcase will be 7.30pm.
Guest speakers will be Bishop Graham James and National Youth for Christ Director, Neil O Boyle. Many people will be taking part in the event and sharing stories including past staff as well as copies of the book ‘Life Begins’ available!

The event is free of charge and can be booked here: www.norwichyfc40birthday.eventbrite.co.uk
