JillGowerStevenJaffe750Christian TV features Norwich Jewish blood libel

The infamous anti-Semitic "Blood Libel" of Norwich in the Middle Ages will feature on the Christian Revelation TV on Friday August 31.

Special guests on this week’s ‘Middle East Report’ on Revelation TV, the UK’s award winning Christian TV station, will be Jill Gower, chair of East Anglia Friends of Israel, with Steven Jaffe, a member of the Board of Jewish Deputies, and well-known to many friends of Israel in East Anglia.
Hosting the programme on Friday (August 31) will be Simon Barratt, the popular presenter of the Middle East Report. Simon is remembered in Norfolk as a keynote speaker at this year’s ‘Celebration 70’ in Norwich, in May, to mark the 70th birthday of modern Israel.
Topics on this week’s TV broadcast will include the infamous, anti-Semitic ‘Blood Libel’ in Norwich in the Middle Ages when the Jewish community was falsely accused of killing William, a 12-year-old apprentice tanner in a blood ritual. This lie led to terrible persecution and other Blood Libels across Europe.

In medieval Norwich, Jews were killed - in one case, they were thrown down a well. The bones of 17 adults were discovered in a well in 2004 during the construction of the Chapelfield Shopping Centre.  The bones have since been reburied in the Jewish Cemetery in Norwich.
Norwich was one of the first cities in the UK to take part in the annual Holocaust Memorial Day each January.
Jill and Steven are appearing on Revelation TV tomorrow, Friday, August 31 at 9pm. The one-hour programme is repeated this Sunday, September 2, at 3.30pm.
