Charity concert to benefit Yarmouth Port Chaplaincy

Former BBC Radio Norfolk broadcaster, Tony Mallion, will compère an evening of music, drama, comedy, and magic in aid of the Great Yarmouth Seafarers Centre and Port Chaplaincy, supporting seafarers in Great Yarmouth and around the world.

 
The show, called Anchors Aweigh! , is at Gorleston Pavilion Theatre at 7.30pm on Saturday February 23. It is being organised by Dusty Miller will be directed by Thomas Bailey.
 
It will feature international tenor Jack W Ollett, Welsh soprano Jo Westaway, dancer and singer Karla Beare, and young people’s theatre company Dusmagrik. Comedienne Leah Brown and magician Joshua Pickering Magic will bring their quirky humour and a "piece of the unexpected". All will be accompanied by local pianist Karen Smith.
 
A highlight of the evening promises to be excerpts from Pearls from The Grit – the recent hit show about Lowestoft’s almost forgotten fishing village. Writer Dean Parkin travels back in time to piece together the story of what made The Grit such a special community and place to live.
