Celebrate cake competition to highlight work of church cafes

Celebrate Norwich & Norfolk is planning to turn the spotlight on the work of the many church community cafes which have opened across the county over the past few years, at its flagship event at the Forum in Norwich on Saturday June 29.

To do this, it will hold a Celebrate Cake Bake-Off showcase during the Norwich event and is inviting chefs and volunteers from the numerous church and community cafes across greater Norwich to submit a cake to be judged by the public and to help promote their café services.

Celebrate director, John Betts, said: “We want to promote and celebrate all that is good about the work of the many local church and community cafes right across greater Norwich. There are many cooks in the cafes as well as the volunteers who provide home-baked cakes which are eaten with much pleasure by diners. There must be an army of people who do such a good job and who are unsung yet serve the Lord and their customers just for the joy of serving.”

So here is your opportunity to shine! Entries are invited from such cafes and churches by someone connected to them who will bake the cake.

Your cake should be a celebration cake in one form or another. The cakes will be judged for appearance by the Celebrate Trustees and then by members of the public who will get the chance to taste them and give them a mark.

If you would like to enter a cake, please email your name, contact details and café represented to celebrate@networknorwich.co.uk asap.

We will publicise all entries on our website and newspaper. We are also happy to carry a small advert for your café in our 17,000-run newspaper with prices ranging from £50 to £200 for a quarter page. For details email keith.morris@networknorwich.co.uk
