Sheringham walk of witness hil

Sheringham’s Good Friday walk of witness

Hundreds of Christians joined in the Good Friday Walk of Witness procession to Beeston Hill near Sheringham where the cross was erected in top of the hill.

Sheringham walk of witness towLocal Christians met together at St Peter’s Church in the town centre for a United service, before setting off to carry the 12-foot-high wooden cross through the town and then to the top of the nearby beauty spot, known locally as Beeston Hump or Bump. This has been an annual event in Sheringham for almost 30 years.

The crowd stopped off at the clock tower in the town centre for a couple of songs and a prayer before setting off on the climb up to the 63-metre hill, with superb views over the town and surrounding coastline.

Sheringham walk of witness croThe service on the hill was led by Ian Savory from the town’s Lighthouse Community Church, with the support of other local church leaders.

The cross will stay at the top of the hill over the Easter period.
