A new church, which wants to make a positive impact on the lives of those in the local community, is set to be launched in Taverham near Norwich in July reports Keith Morris.

Lead by Stu and Hannah Thompson (pictured right), and supported by Senior Pastors Mark and Sherryll Baines from Faithlife Church Cambridge, Passion Church aims to blend the grace, truth, simplicity and authenticity of the early church with today’s technology to enable it to reach more and more people and share the good news of Christ in an all-encompassing way, said Stu Thompson. “With a strong emphasis on scripture-based teachings and sharing the full gospel in an understandable and real way, Passion Church believes it will see lives changed for the better.”

Passion Church will be holding its inaugural service at 6.30pm on July 14 at Hinks Meadow Hall, Taverham. Affiliated with Faithlife Church Cambridge, it says it is focused on helping people develop a relationship with Jesus Christ whatever the starting point, believer or just wanting to know more, said Stu.

Both Stu Thompson and Mark Baines studied at Charis Bible College, a part of Andrew Wommack Ministries (an American conservative charismatic TV evangelist and faith healer), and have a zeal for teaching truth about God’s love for people and an expectation of His direct involvement in their lives. Initially Passion Church will meet monthly with the intention of increasing to fortnightly then weekly by the New Year.

Stu said: “We believe Norwich is a city full of promise and at a time of increasing uncertainty it’s a city that needs to know the promises of God - that He is good and He has a great plan for each and every one of us.

“It’s this message that Passion Church wants to spread throughout our city and undo any wrong beliefs about who God really is, and that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour we can expect to see His direct involvement in changing lives for the better. We want to make a positive impact on the lives of those in our local community, and the global one too. We are one body united in Christ, and together we will see lives transformed through the hearing of the gospel.

“My heart is to see lives genuinely transformed by hearing the good news of Christ. We want to build genuine, lasting friendships within the church and foster relationships with other churches and ministries, recognising we are one body. God set me apart for Passion Church four years ago, and it’s been an incredible journey of growing, learning, connecting and correcting to get where we are today,” said Stu.
