Bishop Graham commissions school volunteers
A special online service is to be held to celebrate the start of the new academic year and commission those working and volunteering with children and young people.
On Thursday 3 September 2020 The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher invites all those working and volunteering with children and young people in schools, academies and churches across the diocese to join together for a service of commissioning.
It is a great opportunity after a long period apart to come together; to celebrate all that has been achieved in recent months, pray for the continued work with children and young people and commission all those involved as they enter and look forward with hope to the new academic year.
The service will be taking place at 6.30pm – 7.15pm on Zoom and will include worship, readings, visual contributions from local schools and a commissioning led by the Rt Revd Graham Usher.
Speaking about the event Paul Dunning Director of Education for the Diocese of Norwich said: “This event is open to ALL, not just those linked to church schools. Christians need practical and spiritual support in their workplaces and coming together to be prayed for and commissioned is a powerful and uplifting experience. This is the third year we have held such an event and each year it’s been different. Who’d have thought we’d be using Zoom this year!”
Everyone is welcome to join the event. Please use the Zoom link www.DofN.org/commissioning
