Pantomime cast take part in Norwich carols

The cast of Norwich Theatre's pantomime Dick Whittington and his Cat attended a Christmas Carol concert at St Peter Mancroft Church on Thursday December 23 to spread festive cheer and the Christmas message.

The pantomime cast and Norwich Theatre staff were back once again after the concert could not go ahead last year due to Covid-19 restrictions. The carol concert is a special moment for the life of Norwich Theatre, not just for the wonderful moment of Christmas but the tradition it represents.
The service featured Wind in the Willows readings by Stephen Crocker, Chief Executive & Creative Director at Norwich Theatre. A poem reading by Richard Gauntlett (Sarah the Cook), Graham Cole (Alderman Fitzwarren) and Joe Pollard (Idle Jack). Joe Tracini who plays Tommy the Cat gave a moving speech on mental health and the importance of getting to tomorrow.
The children of the pantomime, Siân Reeves (Queen Rat) and the pantomime ensemble, sang festive tunes to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas. The Vicar, The Revd Canon Edward Carter took performed the service and spoke about the heart of Christmas.
Graham Cole, who plays Alderman Fitzwarren in Dick Whittington and his Cat, said: "Last year, we couldn't meet, so gathering here today is a real treat. Carols are a vital element of the Christmas celebration and bring us all together, including the cast and crew of Dick Whittington and his Cat.
"For those alone at Christmas, it can be a difficult time, but carols can transport us to our childhood and remind us of not just good times but the good in people. The pantomime Christmas concert is a special occasion that sees the cast out of its normal surroundings spreading festive cheer to all of Norwich."
