Norfolk celebrates the Platinum Jubilee in song

Churches and Christian organisations across Norfolk are putting on variety of musical and artistic events to help celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

A Jubilee-themed ‘Music for a Summer Evening’ will take place on June 3 at St Mary’s church in Martham. The performance will be by the Norfolk Broads Concert Band, a collection of amateur brass, woodwind and percussion players. They are led by Musical Director Linda Purdy and will play a mixture of pop, film themes, standards and classical pieces. Tickets on the door are £10 for adults; children free (includes refreshments).
At St George’s in Tombland there will be a Jubilee Chamber Concert in aid of The Friends of St George, Tombland. It will be given by The Earlham Ensemble to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen on Sunday June 5.
Holy Trinity Church in Caister on Sea is holding a Jubilee Thanksgiving Service on Wednesday June 1 which will include a recording of the tuneful and newly-composed Platinum Jubilee Anthem “In Our Service” by Thomas Hewitt Jones.
This is an opportunity for children to make their crowns for the home-made crown competition at Dereham's Beacon Lighting Ceremony at Fleece Meadow taking place on June 2. Booking is recommended for the Jubilee craft activity at Dereham Library as places are limited.

The centrepiece concert of music and poetry on June 4 will be featuring students from Aylsham Schools raising funds for Aylsham’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Trust, which provides educational support to local young people aged 12 - 22.
