Norwich Youth for Christ have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Boost team; an alternative education project, for 10 hours a week, to try and help tackle the exclusion rates in Norwich. The project has a good foundation with five years of working with young people and we are in need for a team member to join us for one day a week, Tuesday.

Boost is designed to work with young people at risk of exclusion or low attendance or engagement. Working in partnership with local secondary schools, (school years 7-11 /ages 11-16) we use a relational approach to deliver accredited OCR life skills courses, 4-mentoring, goal setting and practical music, media, craft and catering project work. 
 
The right candidate will have the skills, passion, patience and perseverance for working with disengaged young people at risk of exclusion by supporting our Boost Lead and helping to establish Norwich Youth For Christ as an excellent provider of this much-needed education in Norfolk.

You will need good experiences of supporting leadership and working with this client group in an educational setting and a deep empathy and understanding of their background. You will grasp how trauma affects young people’s learning and know strategies to overcome challenging behaviour and help students engage and achieve, even if that achievement looks different to the norm.

You will be partly responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of Boost, involving our Boost Lead and volunteers where appropriate, so as to provide a varied curriculum which could involve creative arts, cooking, sport, outdoor learning and more. There is a possibility that this role could be tailored to the successful candidates skills.

You will be joining our forward-thinking team of youth workers, who are dedicated to providing young people with opportunities, and to be the good news of Jesus in exciting, innovative ways. Crossover work with our other projects is encouraged.

There is a genuine occupational requirement that the postholder is a Christian. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant. 

Salary: £23,795 - £25,132 (pro rata)
