Sheringham church gathers vital gifts for Ukraine

St Peter’s Church in Sheringham has been welcoming donations from all over North Norfolk in recent weeks, as part of its ongoing efforts to support Ukrainians affected by war.

The church has worked with the local community to gather medical supplies, toiletries, clothing, and a range of essential items for children and babies, which have been passed on to North Norfolk Aid for Ukraine (NNAFU).
 
Cash donations have also helped finance NNAFU’s costs in sending these items eastwards through Europe, with the team at St Peter’s having recently received confirmation that all goods had reached Berlin.
 
“We've been very fortunate to receive donations, not just from our congregation, but from businesses, social groups and individuals throughout Sheringham and the surrounding area,” explained Revd Iain Grant, Assistant Curate at St Peter’s, pictured on the right, above. “We really hope that what we've sent can help make some small difference to people in Ukraine, and we will be glad to continue supporting NNAFU for as long as it takes.”
 
This follows a special service held by the church in February to mark the third anniversary of Ukraine being invaded by Russian forces and visitors have also been invited into St Peter’s to see a range of collected prayers, poems, reflections and artworks, with all contributions collated and printed into a booklet subsequently sent to the Anglican Church in Kyiv.
