Join Norwich conference on child exploitation
Two leading Norfolk charities specialising in Child Exploitation are joining together to improve awareness and gain a greater understanding of the issues facing young people in the county, by staging a one-day conference on the subject in Norwich.
Parents and professionals working with young people are invited to Join The Magdalene Group and Joe Dix Foundation for a thought-provoking day conference focusing on child exploitation, including knife crime, gang culture and grooming and sexual exploitation from a Norfolk perspective.
The conference, to be held at the Weston Room at Norwich Cathedral on Tuesday May 13, aims to raise awareness, educate, and empower individuals to identify and challenge the issues young people are facing in our community.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and workshops as well as hear from experts in the field, including Her Honour Judge Katharine Moore and Norfolk Chief Constable Paul Sanford.
There will be presentations by the Joe Dix Foundation on people’s understanding of the dangers of Child Criminal Exploitation, knife crime and gang culture.
The Foundation was formed by Emma and Phil Dix, the parents of Joe who was tragically stabbed to death in Norwich in January 2022. The Foundation’s goal is to raise awareness of child criminal exploitation and knife crime to prevent any family from enduring the heartbreak that Joe’s family has faced.
The Magdalene Group’s Rose Project will present on its work on targeted and therapeutic support for young people who have been affected by online and face-to-face grooming and sexual exploitation.
The conference will take place from 10am to 3.30pm at the Weston Room, Norwich Cathedral, Norwich NR1 4EH and the cost is £35 + booking fee to include drinks and lunch. Click here to book a ticket.
