King's Lynn Christian media workshop is held  

The fourth in a series of free media workshops for churches and Christians across Norfolk, as part of Network Norfolk’s 20th anniversary year, has been held in King's Lynn and an online workshop will be arranged soon.

Staged at Gaywood Church Rooms, in King's Lynn on May 7, the training was led by website editor Keith Morris and West Norfolk content editor Peter Bending.
 
Participants came from churches and Christian organisations from King's Lynn, Norwich and Ashill.
 
Vicki Price from Imagine Norfolk Together said: "The workshop was great. It provided helpful and practical advice which would enable any church or Christian organisation to engage with the media.

Stuart Budden from Witard Road Baptist Church in Norwich, said: "There was lots of information to take in and it was well worth the journey."

Jerry Smith from the Adventist Church in King's Lynn, said: "I appreciated the time and effort put into the workshop."

An online version of the workshop will be announced soon, for those who could not make any of the in-person workshops. The workshops cover topics aimed at helping churches and Christian organisations communicate their great work more effectively. They are run by Keith, who is an experienced journalist, editor and communications director, and local Network Norfolk content editors.
 
Keith explains: "Each workshop is tailored to those attending it and it works best if people come with ideas about what they want to communicate."

Topics include some of:

• How to tell your faith stories more effectively
• What is a news story and how to write it.
• Tips on writing a press release
• Using different media channels to get your message out.
• How to compose, take and edit a news picture.
• Image and content copyright
• The local media landscape
• How to write for the web

Places are free, but will be limited to make sure that we can engage fully with participants to help them get the most out of the interactive workshops.
