Sheringham church holds ‘Dying Matters’ sessions
St Peter’s Church in Sheringham will be holding “Dying Matters” sessions which will allow people to informally discuss and ask about all aspects of dying and death. Anyone is welcome to come along.
If anyone is thinking about their end of life wishes, or wondering which options are best for them and their family, then they are warmly welcome to come to one or more of the sessions, which will be held on the second Wednesday of each month, each with a specific theme.
The first session will be about the costs of funerals, cremation and burial, and will take place in St Peter’s hall, Sheringham (adjoining the main church building ) on Wednesday 14 May from 2pm to 3:30pm. Representatives of Blyth and Sons Funeral Directors will be available to enable informal discussion about the variation in costs, and the differences between the direct cremations which are advertised and the equivalent that are offered by local independent firms.
Dying Matters is Hospice UK’s flagship campaign. It aims to create an open culture that talks about death, and where people feel able to listen and support people who are planning for end of life, those who are dying and bereaved people.
Chris White, Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager at Hospice UK, said: “Talking about death and dying is never easy, but we feel that it is vital. Honest and timely conversations can ensure that people get the support they need and help loved ones better understand their wishes. We at Hospice UK believe that everyone, no matter who they are, where they are or why they are ill, should receive the best possible care at the end of their life.”
