Sheringham great grandma’s church charity sale
A Sheringham woman is running a table-top sale at her church on Saturday to raise funds for the cancer charity that has been helping her great grandson, and all are invited to come along and support the event. Tony Rothe reports.
The organiser is Maggie Roffe - great grandmother to Freddie, a young child who continues to receive amazing care from Addenbrookes Hospital enabling him to make great progress. Maggie says the care and support from the hospital is second to none.
The organisation that has been supporting the family is Young Lives vs Cancer. This charity supports the families of the young patients by financing hotel and travel costs as well as assisting with necessary support and equipment at home. This is Maggie’s way of saying ‘thank you’.
Young Lives vs Cancer supports families disrupted by cancer in a number of ways: They provide specialist social workers so that children and young people facing cancer, and their families, have someone to guide them through their cancer journey with empathy and expertise. They also pay towards overnight stays in one of ten Homes from Home across the UK, and, where needed, give financial grants.
The table-top sale will take place on Saturday 24 May from 10am to 12 noon at St Andrew’s Methodist Church, Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8SA. There will be a wide selection of books, bric-a-brac, handbags, shoes, clothes rail etc on offer. Maggie and her team of helpers hope that as many folks as possible will come along and give support.
