Exploring Christian hope in Briston
A group of Christians in Briston is hosting a series of three short talks next month followed by discussion and refreshments, and anyone is very welcome to come along.
The small, independent group of Christians have been meeting in a Briston home each Sunday afternoon for Bible study and prayer, for more than five years. During that time, they have also run eighteen Holiday Bible Clubs in the village hall, which approximately 60 different local children have attended in total.
The group is inviting others to join them for three Sunday afternoons in June, at 4.00 pm, when there will be short talks based on the 'Hope Explored' material, which itself is based on parts of Luke's Gospel, and will cover the themes of hope, peace and purpose.
Organiser Matthew Pickhaver says “This is especially aimed at anyone who is curious about Christianity and would like a basic introduction to the Bible's message. There will be the chance to ask questions or, if preferred, just to sit and listen, then enjoy some refreshments together, all for free.
“As has been reported in the media, there seems to be a general turning back towards Christian truth at the moment and we thought we should provide an opportunity for enquirers in this area to investigate too. Existing Christians are, of course, very welcome to come along and support as well, and we're grateful for the endorsement of the Norfolk Gospel Partnership, with whom we have links.”
The topics are:
-
Sunday 15 June: Is there any HOPE?
-
Sunday 22 June: How can we find PEACE?
-
Sunday 29 June: What is our PURPOSE in life?
Each session will begin with a prayer, song and Bible reading. Then there'll be a short talk followed by a chance to ask questions if people wish.
Venue: Communal Room, All Saints Close, Briston NR24 2LA.
