Norwich church to host homelessness exhibition

Herring House Trust in Great Yarmouth is bringing its Homelessness Exhibition to St Peter Mancroft Church in the centre of Norwich as part of the Hidden Voices project in the church.

The exhibition is created and developed by members of the Lived Experience Collective at Herring House Trust. It was first shown at Prime Yarc Gallery in Great Yarmouth in April.

The artwork is directly inspired by the experiences and words of those who have been street homeless and is so much more than a story of invisibility and neglect. It is also a story of community and hope. The exhibition can be seen inside St. Peter Mancroft from Monday August 4 to Monday August 11.

Art and writing have proved to be a successful and inspiring part of the programme of support the charity provides to those recovering from addiction.

As part of the exhibition there will be a presentation of the work of the Lived Experience Collective and readings from the anthology Untitled, Writing from Recovery - a book of poetry, memoir, prose fiction and other texts produced by the writing group at Herring House Trust on Friday August 8 at 2pm.

Sue Williams, HSU and Lived Experience Recovery Co-ordinator and members of the Lived Experience Collective will share the work they do in the community as well as their own personal stories.

Local actors Joanna Swan and Martin Kray will read extracts from the anthology which will be on sale raising money to support the creative arts work carried out in the hostel.
