Festival weekend at Sloley Methodist Church

Sloley Summer Festival returns over the bank holiday weekend, with fun for all the family, and concert tickets are now available.

The weekend starts with a barbecue at 5.30pm and concert at 6.30pm on Saturday 23 August, described as “A fun and eclectic evening of live music & sketches for all the family to enjoy". The Festival Service at 2.30pm on the Sunday starts with worship singing from 2.15pm, and the Summer Fayre from 11am to 2pm on Bank Holiday Monday will have various stalls, games, cakes, refreshments and light lunches.
 
The live music throughout the weekend will be provided by the worship band from Third Avenue Church & Community in Gillingham, Kent. Mark Frost, the worship group leader at Third Avenue, grew up in Norfolk, with Sloley his home chapel, before moving to London then Gillingham over 30 years ago. Since 2013 he has brought the Third Avenue Worship Group to Sloley each year, staging a concert on the Saturday evening, and leading worship on the Sunday afternoon.
 
Mark said, "This lovely little chapel has been a light in Sloley for over 150 years. It's sad to see the decline of many rural Methodist chapels across Norfolk and the rest of country, with many facing closure, but there is something special and spiritual about these places, especially at Sloley, and we want to share in its history for as long as we can."

On the Sunday the band will lead worship for the Festival Service, with a mix of modern and traditional worship songs, and the Summer Fayre on the Monday with various stalls, refreshments and community singing! All monies raised go to support Sloley Methodist Church, which is located at Frankfort, Sloley, NR12 8HG.
 
Tickets for the concert are £6 each, or £10 to include the barbecue.
