BBC star in church pirate party and Alpha launch
BBC’s children’s TV presenter Gemma Hunt will be starring at a Pirate Party and an Alpha Course launch at a church in Ipswich in September.
Colchester Road Baptist Church will welcome Gemma Hunt for two special events on Saturday September 13 which are designed to inspire families and adults across the community.
Pirate Party – Family Fun with Gemma Hunt from 10:30am – 12:30pm promises to be a fun-filled pirate-themed morning for children and families. Hosted by Gemma Hunt, star of CBBC’s BAFTA award winning pirate gameshow "Swashbuckle", this interactive event will feature craft, storytelling, games, songs, and plenty of laughter, as well as a Pirate Tea Party. Fancy dress encouraged!
An Evening with Gemma Hunt – Launching the Latest Alpha Course, from 7-9pm will see Gemma share her personal journey of faith, stories from life on screen, and what following Jesus means to her today. This inspiring evening also marks the launch of the church’s latest Alpha course—an open and welcoming space to explore life’s biggest questions.
Rev Andy Fitzgerald, minister at Colchester Road Baptist Church, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Gemma Hunt for what promises to be a joyful and meaningful day. Her energy and openness make her the perfect guest to engage families in the morning and to help launch our new Alpha course in the evening. Whether you’ve been to church before or not, we’d love for you to join us.”
