Norfolk charity's fundraising action-song-a-thon
The Raise Kids Work action-song-a-thon raised over £2000 to support the charity’s work of sharing the good news of Jesus to children in Norfolk and beyond.
At the end of the summer term,
Raise Kids Work held its first ever
action-song-a-thon on
Friday July 18. The challenge to get to as many schools across the county to lead a song and then perform non-stop action songs until 9pm was designed to raise important funds for the kid’s ministry charity based in
Wymondham.
Raise’s Director of Operations Andy Jones, dressed in a flashing orange bow tie, braces and a sparkly jacket, sang “My God is so big” by Go Fish with around 1000 school children across 10 schools during the day. He then returned to Hope Church in Wymondham and danced and sang 74 more songs before the end of the challenge.
Andy said: “Our action-song-a-thon efforts has seen such generosity and with gift aid over £2000 has been raised enabling us to carry on doing what we do - bringing positive Christian experiences into schools and churches, sharing the good news of Jesus with so many children.
“We also helped get the children ready for the visit by leading a Challenges assembly before the event, based on David and Goliath in 8 of the 10 schools we visited.”
Vicki, kids ministry assistant at Raise, took the role of chauffeur very seriously with gloves and hat and supported the event by dancing and singing with Andy at various intervals. Raise supporters came to join in the singing and help choose songs.
Andy said: “We’re gearing up for the new term ahead with plenty of assemblies in schools across the county. Christmas and Easter Experiences (already being put in the diary!) and a monthly kids club for 7-11s which we do in partnership with Hope Church, Wymondham.
“We’re also busy working on getting ready our second Puzzle Pod – our Bible-based portable Escape Room for 8-11s based on the Miracle of Jesus. Whilst still offering out Puzzle Pod 1 which is based on the story of Joseph from the Old Testament.”
