10th annual Bible conference held in West Norfolk

The 10th annual Word on the Wash Bible conference took place in King’s Lynn last Saturday, featuring guest speaker Adrian Reynolds. Graham Pickhaver reports.

Over 130 people turned up for the 10th Anniversary of Word on the Wash on Saturday, 4th October at the King’s Centre, King’s Lynn. Coming from all over Norfolk and beyond there was a feast of good ministry and warm fellowship.

Adrian Reynolds, Associate National Director of FIEC gave two talks on the book of Ezra, the first dealing with the re-building of the temple following the exiles return from Babylon (C3) and the second, dealing with Satan’s ploy in hindering the work (C4). As many expressed, ‘Here was good, solid, pastoral preaching at its best’ (both talks can be heard on the website).

Word on the Wash came out of the concerns that John Wallis and his wife Kathleen, retired missionaries, shared with a local vicar, Robert Slipper and his wife Helen, about the lack of good Bible teaching in many churches. From the beginning it has always been part of the Keswick Fellowship of local conventions with Jonathan Lamb being a great support. It was a pleasure to have Kathleen and members of her family present at this special Anniversary and she was presented with a lovely bouquet.

Between the main addresses there was a choice of seminars with Adrian Reynolds discussing his recent book, Sweet Dreams, a biblical perspective on sleep and rest and the Christian Institute who gave updates on the Conversion Therapy and Assisted Dying bills currently going through Parliament.

A number of Christian organisations had stalls and a substantial bookstall run by 10ofthose.

A special commemorative booklet was produced for the anniversary including the story of Word on the Wash with the desire that the conference will continue to encourage local Christians to love the Word of God in order to love and serve more the God of the Word.

Feedback at the end of the day showed much appreciation and plans are already in hand for 2026.
