Dereham Baptist Church vacancy: CAP Debt Coach
Dereham Baptist Church is looking for a Debt Coach to join its Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre Team.
Location: Dereham, England (office-based with local travel for home visits)
Hours: 16 hours per week
Salary: £10,574.72 per annum (£26,436.80 FTE)
Contract: Fixed-term for 2 years, subject to successful completion of Debt Coach Training and 6 month probation period. Further renewal subject to review and adequate funding.

Dereham Baptist Church, in partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP), is looking to appoint and train a Debt Coach to join our team. This is a life-changing role, providing holistic support and practical financial guidance to vulnerable people in our community.
Once trained, you will:
● Be a beacon of hope: Conduct confidential home visits with clients struggling with debt.
● Deliver solutions: Clearly communicate tailored debt advice and financial plans prepared by the Christians Against Poverty Support Hub.
● Inspire change: Offer ongoing, non-judgmental encouragement and sensitively share the hope of the Christian faith.
● Build community: Work closely with volunteers and advocate for the Debt Centre within the local church network.
We are looking for:
● A clear and active Christian commitment - this role carries a Genuine Occupational Requirement
● Exceptional communication skills – the ability to relay complex financial information simply
● Strong organisation and resilience – excellent record-keeping and emotional strength to handle challenging situations
