Eckling Grange is a Christian residential care home located in Dereham, dedicated to providing exceptional care for the elderly in a warm, homely environment. As a Christian organisation, we believe that spiritual wellbeing is as vital as physical health and look to care for the whole person. Our community includes 60 residents in our main home and many others within our bungalow complex, creating a vibrant environment where faith, peace, and a sense of belonging are nurtured.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a mature individual to join our team as Pastor. Working closely alongside our existing Pastor, you will report to the General Manager. Your primary focus will be providing pastoral care and spiritual support to our residents and staff, while leading various services within the planned spiritual programme. We recognise that everyone in the body of Christ brings unique gifts and the good works set out for them will differ; while the core of this role is pastoral support and leading services, we will be open to discussion about your other abilities, whether in teaching or music to name two examples. We trust that the right contribution will help shape and grow the spiritual life of Eckling Grange.
Key Responsibilities:

Pastoral Presence: Provide regular visitation and support to residents in the care home and those living independently in the bungalows.
-
Collaborative Ministry: Work in partnership with the existing Pastor to coordinate the Spiritual Programme. Agreeing and aligning with our Statement of Faith.
-
Spiritual Support: Offer prayer, scripture reading, and a listening ear to residents, particularly those facing bereavement, illness, or the challenges of aging.
-
End-of-Life Care: Provide sensitive support to residents and their families during end-of-life stages, working alongside the care team and coordinating thanksgiving services.
-
Dementia Ministry: Adapt spiritual activities to remain inclusive and engaging for residents living with dementia.
-
Relationship Management: Act as a bridge between Eckling Grange and local churches, welcoming visiting speakers and volunteers. Strengthening relationships with Christian organisations both locally and nationally. Leading & Teaching: Design and deliver engaging services and seasonal celebrations.
Your Abilities:
Essential
-
A committed Christian with a heart for elderly ministry and a desire to share God's love in a practical, care-led environment.
-
Exceptional listening skills and the ability to connect with people from various denominational backgrounds.
-
Comfortable sharing duties and supporting the vision of Eckling Grange alongside the current Pastor.
-
The ability to tailor your approach to the differing needs of bungalow and home residents.
-
Punctual, trustworthy, and able to maintain a consistent presence.
Desirable
-
Previous experience in pastoral care or working within a care or hospital setting.
Hours and Work Environment:
The role covers the residential care home, specialised dementia wing, and the bungalow complex.
Hours are primarily 2 days per week with flexible time away from the office. This can be discussed at the interview. Shared responsibility for Sunday services and occasional emergency pastoral cover to be expected.
Benefits:
-
Competitive salary/pay.
-
A supportive, faith-based working environment.
-
Onsite car park.
