Enjoy a Cotswolds concert in Cromer Church

The Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society will be performing in Cromer Parish Church next month, and tickets are now available.

The theme is “Harmony in the Cotswolds” and will celebrate two prolific composers both with well-known links to the Cotswolds: Sir Edward Elgar and Samuel Sebastian Wesley. The concert features Elgar’s The Music Makers and a selection of anthems by Wesley, including Thou Wilt Keep Him in Perfect Peace.

Dr Susannah Self The choir will be conducted by Musical Director, David Ballard, accompanied by organist William Falconer with soprano Jasmine Pierce. They will be joined by celebrated mezzo soprano Dr Susannah Self, right, who is well known in Norfolk as an inspirational composer, conductor and singer.

This April marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Samuel Sebastian Wesley, the grandson of Charles Wesley. His copious career as a composer and organist led to positions as organist at Hereford and Gloucester cathedrals.

Sir Edward Elgar lived much of his life in the Worcestershire countryside bordering the Cotswolds, particularly the Malvern Hills, which inspired much of his music and had a very close connection with the Three Choirs Festival.

The concert will take place at 7pm on Saturday 18 April in Cromer Parish Church.

Tickets are £16 per person (under 18’s and care-givers free) from the box office at Sheringham Little Theatre 01263 822347 or online at sheringhamlittletheatre.com. Tickets also available (cash only) from Upstairs Downstairs Church Street Cromer.
