Norwich church to hold a series of afternoon talks
Christ Church Eaton is once again holding a series of Talks at Two with visiting speakers exploring a range of subjects.
Talks @ 2 is a series of free talks at
Christ Church Eaton in Norwich held on Friday afternoons from 2pm, followed by chat and refreshments.
The first two dates and speakers have been announced with more to follow.
On Friday May 8 the topic will be Norwich Shawls by Helen Kennett. Helen lives in Norwich and has been interested in local history for many years and has a social history degree with the open university.
She is particularly fascinated by the Norwich Textile Industry and especially Norwich Shawls. Helen is the proud owner of a Norwich Shawl and has made a small collection of locally manufactured shawls herself.
The following month will see D.J. Taylor speak on Orwell and God on Friday June 19.
David Taylor is a renowned biographer who has produced two major, critically acclaimed studies of George Orwell: The Life (2003) and Orwell: The New Life (2023). Taylor portrays Orwell as a complex, self-mythologising figure, often bridging the gap between man and the myth.
