Briston All Saints
Ambitious funding bid for Briston Church

A £3.5m project called Opening the Doors at All Saints has been launched to repair, restore, and improve Briston’s parish church, and locals have been invited to get involved.

Those living in the village, near Holt, have been urged to help shape the future of the church building after an opportunity to secure a multi-million pound National Lottery investment emerged. This would secure the building's future, which is currently on Historic England's Heritage at Risk register.

To make the church a “space for all”, the project team is planning essential upgrades to improve access and comfort. These include accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, a kitchenette for hot drinks and community meals, and efficient, green heating and innovations like solar tiles. It also hopes to make level, accessible paths in the churchyard and flexible pew seating for arts events.

Before the final plans are made to submit the bid, the church is asking locals to help shape the project’s activities and events by completing a short community survey and people have until April 15 to share their views.

Reverend Dr Trudie Morris, project lead and rector, explained that they wanted the project to be shaped by local people, not done to them, and that they really wanted to hear the views of local residents, whether or not they currently attended the church.
