Night time strut in Norwich to demand freedom
Now in its third year, the Night‑time Strut set for June 10, is a powerful evening organised by the Magdalene Group to walk through Norwich to raise awareness of violence against women and girls.
The event brings our community together to honour the women and girls whose lives have been taken by male violence, and to stand in solidarity for a future free from fear, exploitation and harm.
Violence against women and girls now accounts for nearly one in five recorded crimes in England and Wales, making collective action unavoidable. Building on the impact of last year’s Strut, we gather again in remembrance, resistance and hope.
The walk will pass through Norwich to Carrow Road, before returning to Millennium Plain for an evening of reflection. The Strut will be accompanied by the Invidia Voices Rock & Soul Choir, with words from Norwich poet Helen Ivory and a moving reading of the names of women killed by male violence over the past year.
This year’s Strut is proudly supported by Norwich City Football Club, underlining the vital role men must play as active allies in ending violence against women and girls.
The Magdalene Group welcomes organisations, workplaces and community groups to take part by forming a team. Walking the Strut together is a powerful way to demonstrate shared values and collective responsibility for creating safer communities.
Ending violence against women and girls requires people and institutions to speak up, stand up and show up.
