Come to fundraising concerts for Acle Church
A series of fundraising events will be held at St Edmunds Church in Acle, and tickets for the next two are now available.
Chris Green-Armytage, pictured above, is an award-winning pianist, teacher and composer. He will perform a piano recital called From Bach to Bartok on Sunday 26 April at 2.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 online at ticketsource.co.uk/access4acle, or £15 on the door, and include refreshments during the interval.
Next month, Gorleston Community Choir will be performing Voices in Time - A musical journey through the 80’s and 90’s. Tickets for this are £10, which also includes refreshments. The concert is at 2.30pm on Sunday 24 May. CD’s will be available for £10. To book tickets, contact Diane on 07969 341943.
The concerts are to raise funds for Access4Acle, a project aiming to make St Edmunds Church step-free and accessible for everyone, including electric wheelchair users. Diane Wynne-Fitzgerald, who is churchwarden and PCC Secretary at the church, launched the campaign after her husband fell from an access ramp in 2024.
She explained, “My husband uses an electric wheelchair, and fell when trying to use the old unsuitable ramp to go to church a couple of years ago. He broke several bones and was in hospital for 6 weeks. The ramp was subsequently condemned and so now he has to sit in the porch.”
Diane is also planning to hold further fund-raising events in June and September. For more information about her project, contact her on 07969 341943.
St. Edmund King & Martyr Church is on Norwich Road in Acle, NRI3 3BU .
