Worship with your pets in Meeting Hill
There will be a pet service at Worstead Baptist Church in Meeting Hill next month, and all are very welcome to come along, with whatever pets they may have!
The Pastor is Rev Patrick Coghlan, who is also a retired counsellor and well-known local author. He regards himself as an animal lover - he and his wife, June have two cockapoos: Millie and Benji, and a small flock of chickens. Patrick has also ridden horses most of his life.
Patrick is planning the pet service at the Meeting Hill chapel to give thanks for pets and all that they mean to us. He explained: “It is not unusual for us to have the occasional canine visitor attending Café Church, or for us to pray for people’s pets. Whatever our pets might be: large or small, feathery, furry or scaly, two legged, four legged, or no legs at all - they are all loved and valued!
“I believe, from personal experience, in the significant therapeutic power of animals – especially for mental health. Unconditional love and faithfulness. Wagging tails, excited barks, licks, meows, squawks, neighs… and, of course, cuddles!”
Worstead Baptist Church’s usual venue is now in the Genesis Hall - the old School building/day care centre behind the chapel. The fellowship meets at 10-30am each Sunday for Café Church – with the chairs set out around tables and crayons and colouring sheets available for all age groups. Led by Patrick and the worship team, the time together consists of praise, thanksgiving, worship, prayer and Bible-based teaching. Hot and cold drinks and a selection of sweet and savoury treats are available throughout the whole service. And during the colder months a blazing log fire is kept burning. Communion is held on the first Sunday of each month.
The Pet Service will be held at 10.30am on Sunday 31 May, and it will be in the chapel building itself on this occasion. Patrick pointed out that there would be more room - and the pews might be useful to provide the animals with their own space! All are invited to take their pets along – but please keeps dogs on leads, etc.
Before then, on Sunday 17 May, Marilyn Baker, from Marilyn Baker ministries, will be taking part in Café Church in the Genesis Hall. She has an amazing ministry and will be sharing testimony and song with those who come along.
Patrick and his team would love to welcome you for the Pet Service, to meet Marilyn Baker or to any of the weekly Café Church sessions.
