Enjoy G and S concert at Ludham Church

A gala concert featuring excerpts from famous Gilbert and Sullivan operas will take place at Ludham Church next month, and tickets are now available.

There will be a treat for local G&S lovers when “The Wandering Minstrels” stage “The World of Gilbert and Sullivan” in St. Catherine’s Church, Ludham on Saturday 6 June at 7.30pm. Artistes taking part in this Gala concert are Helen Winter, Emma Stratton, Charles Mills, Bruce Graham and Tim Hurst-Brown, with Peter Hewitt at the piano. It will be the company’s third visit to the church.

They will sing, act and dance their way through excerpts from “The Pirates of Penzance”, “The Gondoliers”, “Utopia Ltd”, “Trial by Jury”, “The Grand Duke”, “The Mikado”, “Ruddigore”, “Princess Ida” and “HMS Pinafore”. The company will perform in period costume and the excerpts will be staged in traditional style.

The Wandering Minstrels website describes the event as “a superb light-hearted evening of songs and scenes from the Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas, beautifully sung and delightfully staged. Two hours of Savoy favourites, combining the biting wit of W.S. Gilbert and the enchanting music of Sir Arthur Sullivan.”

Tickets for the concert are £15, which can be obtained from Ludham Butchers on 01692 678226 or on the door. Refreshments will be available in the interval. The organisers are promising a thoroughly delightful evening!
