Join movie quiz to help Norfolk church celebrate 

Attleborough Baptist Church is presenting a Movie Quiz on September 12 to help to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the church.

The quiz, which is free of charge and includes food, is open to the community of Attleborough and surroundings on a first booked, first served basis. It will be presented by film critic and author Andy Godfrey, who wrote Faith on Film, Confessions of a Christian Film Critic.
 
For Andy, the first movie he’d been taken to by his parents (The Wizard of Oz) was truly life-changing. He explains: “I was somewhere else. Somewhere my asthma and my problems at school really didn’t matter at all. Somewhere I could get lost and have fun. Somewhere exciting and different. Somewhere I could have a thrilling adventure. I discovered, at that very moment, the power and joy of cinema. This was it!”
 
Self-proclaimed film fan, movie buff and habitual cinema goer, Andy is also an ardent collector of film memorabilia. He has a collection of nearly 3,000 movies, shelves filled with books on cinema, wall-to-wall movie posters and 500 plus soundtracks, many on vinyl. He writes regular film reviews for Christian media outlets, is a friend of Mark Kermode, the UK’s leading film critic, and runs a Facebook page where 6,000 people spend their time talking about films.
 
Andy has dedicated 40 years to full-time Christian work. He is currently an evangelist with Outreach UK.
 

What to expect

Food first: The event will start at 7pm with food to fill stomachs and brains for the competition.
The quiz: We encourage people to form teams of five or six, but individuals will be allocated teams .
The format: The quiz will include various rounds – from movie tag lines to movie stars, famous quotes and more. Andy will close off with a view into the soul of cinema itself and the intersection of faith and film. An entertaining, family friendly time with nothing too hard or strenuous.
