Norwich YFC crowdfund for van-based recording studio

Norwich Youth for Christ has launched a crowdfunding event in a bold move to raise the final £10,000 needed to launch its mobile recording studio in a van.

Norwich Youth for Christ (YFC) are seeking to raise £10,000 through a Crowdfunding event to complete their exciting new initiative, TRACKS.
TRACKS is a van that will be converted into a professional mobile recording studio and will work in schools to support vulnerable, disengaged and disaffected young people.
The van has been purchased and is in the workshop being converted ahead of the official launch event with the Bishop of Norwich on September 20. Norwich YFC are now in the final push to raise the remaining funds for equipment to kit the van out. The crowdfunder event is a way of generating funds online, by donating an amount and receiving a small reward in return.

TRACKS is the brainchild of Norwich YFC Music Youth Worker, Sarah Ballard, who said: “By using music to raise self-esteem, aspirations and achievements, we want to see disengaged students motivated and re-engage with their education.

“TRACKS will also provide a unique opportunity in community settings, both as an outreach tool to young people but also as a resource for community groups to hire for their performances and productions. We imagine churches especially will want to use TRACKS as part of their outreach to young people.”
NYFC recently revealed the growth of their schools work and stated in their latest newsletter that they have had over 5000 contact points with young people in school between September and April of this academic year.
Nick Blanch, Director of Norwich YFC, said: “Norwich YFC currently has no other resource like TRACKS and we believe that by having it, it will create more demand for our youthwork services and give us an even stronger presence in schools around Norwich.”
To get TRACKS kitted up and on the road, will cost £55,600. £45,000 has already been raised in funding applications, donations and fundraising, enabling the van, a VW Crafter to be purchased.  The final £10,000 is needed for the remaining equipment.
