Carrow Road hosts Norwich Church football matches

On Monday, May 7 SOUL Church held a fun-filled football match at Carrow Road to raise money for charity, and on the same day Norfolk Christian Football League Secretary Alan Barnes used the stadium to treat the Silver Road youth teams and friends to a match.

On Monday 7 May, SOUL Church held a charity football match at Carrow Road, home of Norwich City Football Club.
The evening kicked off with a kids’ match, followed by the main event with under 35's on one team and over 35's on the other. The Unders showed the Overs how it was done, winning by seven goals to three. A special mention to Hezekiah Ogunwali of the Unders, who scored a hat trick!
So much fun was had by the hundreds who came to watch, with just over £4,500 raised for Soul Foundation, supporting a range of local and global initiatives, including the YMCA and the Nehemiah Trust.

Pastor Jon Norman said: "As a church, we're so pleased with the turnout and the money raised, and delighted to see so many having a great time together, while helping those in need in our city and beyond."
Earlier on the same day, Carrow Road hosted two matches courtesy of Norwich Christian Alan Barnes.  Alan, from Norwich Central Baptist Church, is the long-time Secretary of the Norfolk Christian Football League Secretary and a teacher at Falcon Junior School

Alan hired the stadium and invited junior players, including those from the Under 10s and 12s teams at Silver Road, which he started a few years ago, to play a match from 4pm-5pm cheered on by family and friends.  Following that match Alan kicked off with his friends, family and colleagues to play a closely fought game.
