Gorleston identity relaunch 75

Christian youth project to be re-launched in Gorleston

An inter-church youth project in Gorleston is inviting everyone to a special re-launch evening later this month, when it’s new-look programme will be revealed.

The Identity Youth Project, which is a partnership between churches in Gorleston and the surrounding villages, will be unveiling its new programme at 7pm on Monday February 25 at St Andrew’s Church in Gorleston.

Matt Ashpole 430ATMatt Ashpole, right, who joined Identity as lead youth worker on November 1 last year explains, “When I joined Identity the project had been without an employed youth worker for a year.  Over the last few months I have been meeting with local church leaders and members, getting to know young people and understanding what youth activities are already happening in the area.

“As a result, I have been working with the trustees to clarify Identity’s vision and purpose and to design and develop a new programme and direction for project.  I am so excited that we are now able to launch that vision and programme on February 25.  We’re inviting Christians (young and old) from across the churches in the area to come together to hear more about the plans, and also to commit them to our heavenly Father in prayer and worship.”

Anna Price, a member of St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston, and chair of the trustees, commented, “Matt has brought fresh vision and direction to the work of Identity and we are excited about what, in His grace, God appears to be doing.  As a trustee body, we want Identity to be working in partnership with local churches and serving their work of discipleship and evangelism amongst young people.

“Already, we’ve begun to see how this might work, with Matt being released to support various outreach initiatives in churches in Gorleston and surrounding villages. Our prayer is that after the launch night we will see this work grow and develop and that Identity might play its part, with the local church, in reaching a new generation for Christ.”

Everyone is warmly invited to join Identity on February 25 at St Andrew’s Church, Church Road, Gorleston, NR31 6LR for an evening of vision, worship and prayer.  There will be light refreshments and the evening will conclude about 8.30pm.
