Norwich showcase for local charities

Norfolk based charities came together on Saturday July 18 at the third ‘Charities at Home’ event in the Forum, in Norwich city centre, to promote their services to local people and to provide information about ways in which they can be supported.

Charities at Home’ is jointly organised by Sharon Hulbert and Ronnie Zahdeh of Raise Your Profile, whose skills complement each other to make this event happen.

CAH charity 392CFRonnie said “This has been the most successful Charities at Home event. We had so many positive comments and would like to thank all the charities and people that attended, making all the work worthwhile”.

The 24 charities on the day included The Matthew Project, Norfolk SEN Network, Norwich Door to Door and Keeping Abreast, the latter of whom received the proceeds from the day’s fundraising which was in excess of £500. The "Keeping Abreast" stall is pictured right, with Sharon and Ronnie.

CAH tom 360CFSharon said “The original plan was to divide the amount raised equally between the charities but they then all agreed that the charities should be entered into a draw and for one to receive the total sum to really make a difference.”

The money raised was through a tombola, a raffle for a Hudl, kindly donated by Tesco at Stalham which was won by nine year old Tom Allison-Vije, pictured left, of Thetford, and from donations made to Jazzology, a group of musicians who were playing outside the Forum and who chose to support the event. This alone raised £205.92.

“Charities at Home would not take place without the support of local businesses and individuals who contribute goods, marketing materials or their time and both organisers are very grateful for this ongoing support. I would like to thank the unsung heroes that dedicate their own time for nothing knowing the importance of such events for the future” said Ronnie.

“Now that this year’s event is over we will start planning for 2016. Norfolk based charities interested in being considered for next year’s event should contact us via the website” added Sharon.
