Proclaimers church announces leadership change

Proclaimers church, based in Norwich, has announced a change in its leadership team as Tom and Denise Rawls stand down with Sam Cousins becoming its lead pastor.

The change will take place at the end of January 2027, when Tom will become a field worker with Australian mission and relief organisation ACCI, with a renewed focus on Thailand.

Tom said: “These are exciting and significant days for Proclaimers. I am pleased to say that the transition is progressing well, with grace, clarity, and a real sense of the Holy Spirit's leading upon it.

“When I first met Sam, I could see the hand of God on his life. I saw it then, and I see it even more clearly now. He is a talented and gifted leader, a man of faith and integrity. I believe he will lead Proclaimers into a strong and prosperous new season.

“Denise and I plan to remain on team, but in a reduced yet strategic capacity. For us, a new door has [re]opened! I have reapplied to ACCI and have been approved as a Field Worker, with a renewed focus on Thailand. We will divide our time between Thailand and Norwich. These are very exciting days are ahead for us.”

Tom has just launched a new website: tomrawls.org and on June 3 the couple will travel for a two-month stint in Thailand.

“My new website shares the vision and explains what we believe God has placed in our hearts for this next season. We are also inviting people to consider partnering with us in the vision,” said Tom.
