Christian leaders pray over the city of Norwich

Church and Christians leaders from the Transforming Norwich executive team joined together in prayer over the city of Norwich from the heights of Mousehold Heath on Monday (July 18).

The team was meeting for the first time since the group’s AGM on July 6 and in response to chair Danny Doran-Smith’s call to focus on evangelism over the next 12 months.

“At a time when the nation is divided, the church needs to be united in word and spirit,” he said.

“As believers, as ministers, as leaders, we need to do the work of an evangelist right now more than ever before. The primary work of Transforming Norwich needs to be that of an evangelist – we need to start to go and to make. I want to see this city sharing the Good News of the Gospel,” said Danny, referencing the charge that Paul gave to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4 v 1-5.

After discussing the way forward during a team meeting at the Britannia Café, leaders then went outside where they sang and prayed over the city while taking in the panoramic views of Norwich city centre.

The full Transforming Norwich executive team now comprises: Chairman:  Danny Doran-Smith - ENYP, Vice Chair: Trevor Pimlott - Soul Church, Treasurer and Secretary, Lucie Fox, ENYP. Other executive members: Mark Fairweather-Tall - Norwich Central Baptist Church, Phil Thorne - Alive Church, Rev Madeline Light - St Stephen’s Church, Nick Blanch - Norwich Youth for Christ, Jill Gower - Call to Prayer, Keith Morris - Network Norwich & Norfolk, Rev Ian Dyble - St Thomas Norwich, Toby Skipper - King's Church, Julian Bryant - Christian Aid.
