Norwich church collective releases Christmas single
Listen to the catchy Christmas single ‘Dance Tonight (It’s Christmas)’ produced by Norwich church Proclaimers, which will be released on December 16 under the name Christmas Collective in a bid to make Christmas number one.
This year the annual Christmas Special hosted by Norwich church Proclaimers on Sunday, December 18 at 5pm and 7.30pm is set to have a very different ending.
Rather than a familiar Christmas carol, the service will be ended with a song they have written themselves via a crowd-sourcing initiative and put on general release in the hope of making the Christmas number one in the UK charts this year Christmassy again.
The team from Proclaimers have spent the last four weeks canvassing the people of Norwich for lyrics they could use to write a song ‘about all the greatest things about Christmas’ and auditioning members of the public to then perform on the single.
The release of the music video to accompany the song ‘Dance Tonight (It’s Christmas)’ had over 33,000 views on Facebook within the first 24 hours and will be the climax of their annual Christmas production taking place at the churches premises The Space on Roundtree Way on Sunday, December 18.
Proclaimers Executive Pastor Owen Morgan said: “We can’t wait for the first live performance of the song at our Christmas production. The song has been so well received by the public and we are expecting word of it to spread more and more over the coming week. We would love to invite people to come along and support the singers, ‘Christmas Collective’, and the team at our service on December 18.
The collective includes a waitress, taxi driver, music shop employee and an overseas student who have been brought together by Proclaimers.
Owen said: “This is a group of strangers who had never met each other before, who have come together to share their talents, be it song writing or singing, in order to produce a great up-beat, catchy Christmas song that’s worthy of the number one spot in the UK charts!”
Profits from the song will be shared between two Norwich based charities. Martin Green, Fundraising Manager for Break, one of the charities who will be benefiting from the profits commented: “Break is delighted to have been chosen to benefit with Love Norwich from sales of the Christmas single, Dance Tonight (It’s Christmas). The single is certainly full of Christmas spirit and will get you singing and dancing along in no time. Make sure you download your copy and tell all your friends. You will be changing young lives this Christmas.”
