Lighthouse Stir 19 750CF

Worship and teaching weekend at Sheringham church

“Stir 19”, a packed weekend of worship and teaching for the whole family is taking place at Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham in May, and bookings are now being taken. Tony Rothe reports.

The church’s popular “Stir” events, where well known Christian speakers or bands have visited the church on four Sundays throughout the last three summers, have attracted visitors from across the county. Lighthouse leadership have now decided to extend this concept to a whole weekend of teaching and worship for 2019, and this will take place on the May bank holiday weekend of May 4 and 5.

The guest speakers will include Paul & Priscilla Reid from Belfast Christian Fellowship and Roy Crowne, National Director of Hope Together.  Worship will be led by the Lighthouse Worship Band.  The youth programme will be organised by Norwich Youth for Christ and the children’s programme will be led by Raise along with the Lighthouse team.

There will also be a family picnic and family time on the beach, and there will be a main celebration each evening at 6.30pm.

Priscilla Reid 270CFpaul Reid 270CFPaul & Priscilla Reid, right, started a small house church in 1981 that eventually became Christian Fellowship Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  After pioneering and leading this large church for many years, Paul and Priscilla now have a travelling ministry bringing their unique blend of solid and practical Bible teaching, prophetic insight and wisdom, brought from experience, to people around the globe, all delivered with trademark Irish wit and a tender love for God’s people.

Roy Crowne 300CFRoy Crowne, right, was National Director of Youth for Christ for 13 years, during which time he brought many new ideas to the organisation, and led many new initiatives, then formed Hope 08 (now Hope Together) with Andy Hawthorne and Mike Pilavachi in 2007 with the aim of encouraging churches to work together to proclaim the Good News of Jesus throughout the UK. They worked with the Bible Society and the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity in order to publish “The Servant Queen” to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s ninetieth birthday earlier in 2016. This described the Queen’s deep faith, with a foreword written by Her Majesty, and was the highest selling book in Britain in March that year.

“The whole idea of Stir 19 is to encourage other Christians and to build faith for our communities” explained Ian Savory from Lighthouse leadership, “This is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a great weekend of worship and teaching in North Norfolk, so keep the dates free!”

The venues will be Lighthouse Community Church, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT; and St Andrews Methodist Church across the road from Lighthouse.  Refreshments will be available at both venues.

Day tickets are £12.50 per adult, £2.50 for children and youth. Weekend tickets are £20 per adults, £5 for children and youth.

Lighthouse Cafe will be open at break and lunch-times during the weekend for drinks and cold food. Sandwich lunches will be available to pre-order.

Tickets are available from Lighthouse office 9am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday. Or print off and complete a booking form and post it to Lighthouse at the above address.
