Jill invites the Church to become living stones

Jill Gower from the Call to Prayer ministry sees a new way of being Church during the Covid-19 lockdown, as we prepare our hearts to receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Pentecost

Father, we thank you that though our buildings are closed, the true Church of Christ, the Living Stones, are finding ways to bring the Kingdom of God to the face of the earth. We thank you for the wonderful volunteers who are delivering food parcels, through Foodbank, the Picnic Project and other incentives that are making a difference to the lives of many.

We pray for the Church to allow You to bring forth something far better and far more powerful as You transform society. Our trust and faith are in our God who so often out of adversity brings a paradigm shift through His Holy Spirit.

As we prepare our hearts this Pentecost season, celebrating the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Christ in us the hope of glory, we pray for a fresh infilling and a greater sense of Your Presence and guidance through this storm.

We thank You for the many who are now seeking to know more about You. May they open their hearts to the Living God and enter into a true and living relationship with You by Your Spirit.

In Jesus Name we pray.

Here is the latest about the Norwich Foodbank to guide your prayers.

Fear and confusion

Holy God, we thank You that You do not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. In the mighty Name of Jesus we break off a spirit of fear and confusion that has settled upon many people during these unusual times. We release the Shalom of God the Father, peace that passes all understanding, wholeness, wellbeing and completeness to be upon people as they take comfort in You.

As we see so much confusion around us, we thank you, Jesus, that You are the Way and will always be the Way through every situation. We pray that all those things hidden in darkness and corruption will be revealed.

Send Your wisdom and revelation to our leaders, even those who do not know You, so they may lead this country out of the darkness into fulfilling Your will and purpose for our Nation.

We declare that You are sovereign Lord and all things are in Your hands. You will turn this around for Your good and Your glory in the mighty and wonderful, awesome Name of Jesus.  We declare that Your Name that is higher than all things, and all things have been put under Your feet.

It is in that Name that we pray, and say Amen and Amen.
