St Andrew's Flower fest 25 750
Sheringham church’s ‘brilliant’ flower festival

St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Sheringham saw the return of its popular Flower Festival in July to much acclaim, after a gap of four years following covid restrictions and the refurbishment of the church's worship area.

Under the theme of ‘Gifts and Talents’ the worship space was decorated with fourteen very creative floral displays arranged by flower arrangers from the area, plus a colourful montage of paper flowers, animals and garden related items made by pupils of the Sheringham Community Primary School.

There were stalls selling hand-crafted cards, crafts, jewellery, bric-a-brac, books, plants, raffle and Fairtrade goods.   The Prayer Room provided a quiet space for reflection and the writing of prayers, and light refreshments were served throughout the event.

The four-day Festival culminated with Festival Praise services on the Sunday at 10.30am and 4.30pm both conducted by Rev Diane Grice.  The latter was a Circuit Service with the singing accompanied by Rev Ann Bossingham on piano and saxophone, and Colin Humphries on drums.  Both services were zoomed to members of the Circuit and those further afield who could not be physically present.

Many favourable comments by some of the 800 plus visitors, were entered into the Visitors’ Book – ‘Brilliant’, ‘Wonderful as usual’ ‘Very peaceful. Really lovely’.  Financial proceeds amounting to just over £5,000 were given to the local Christian Housing Trust ‘Stable Door’ and Church funds.

Jean Parton, from St Andrews’ leadership team, said, “It is hoped that the God-given talents which were in evidence will have an impact on those who viewed the floral displays with their message.  The worship space, where the displays were located, with its various Christian symbols, evoked conversation and discussion about the Christian faith.”

St Andrew’s Methodist Church is on Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8SA.
