Art Exhibition at Fakenham Church raises £700

art group 384The Trinity Room Art Group of St Peter and Paul Parish Church, Fakenham, held an exhibition of artworks last month, with a preview evening on April 28. £700 was raised for church funds. Tony Rothe reports.

The Trinity Room Art Group was established three years ago by Trish Homan and nine like-minded friends. They meet on alternate Tuesdays in the Trinity Room of All Saints’ Church, from 10.00am – 12.30pm. The group welcomes amateur artists of all levels of expertise and numbers are steadily increasing.
They use a variety of painting mediums from water colour, acrylic, pastel, pencil etc, and occasionally a professional artist will come and give a demonstration or an expert will demonstrate various painting techniques. Fresh coffee and tea are always available during the morning. They also visit local venues and, weather permitting, paint in the open. The group also enjoys a Christmas lunch.
The exhibition of artworks ran from Tuesday April 29 to Saturday May 3 with the preview evening on Monday April 28.

Organiser Trish Homan said "We would like to thank to all those who attended our first exhibition in the Parish Church. We also extend our thanks to all the local shops who very generously donated gifts for our bumper raffle. We currently have a membership of 25 budding artists, and they entered 70 paintings into the exhibition, of which 14 were sold. 580 people came to see the exhibits, had a cup of tea and bought a raffle ticket. The total raised was just under £700 which was passed to the church for its funds. Margaret Sewell was the most chosen artist with Brenda Thompset 2nd. All this would not have been possible without the support of those who came."
