Knitted Bible Exhibition open in Norwich church

The nationally-known Knitted Bible Exhibition is open in a Norwich church until July 19 with its 38 knitted exhibits telling various Bible stories.

The exhibition, at Chapel Field Road Methodist Church, tells various biblical stories in 38 knitted exhibits – and it has been touring the country with some success for over a few years now.

Minister Rev Matthew Olanrewaju said: “We believe this is an important opportunity to talk to unchurched people and friends of different backgrounds.

“The local community, schools and people of other faiths are invited to ‘come and see’ as the Bible becomes real and alive in an artistic and imaginative way.

KnittedBibleBoat600“The story of salvation is God’s story and not our story, we are an invited participants in this salvific events and this biblical characters knitted by a group of ordinary people allows us to see, reflect and recognise our role in sharing God’s story of salvation,” said Rev Matthew.

“The stories the exhibition tells form the basis of our faith and what Christianity involves. Each scene has a short explanation about what it represents and the Bible story behind it.”

There was a formal opening on Monday June 23 and the exhibition will be open to the public from 11.00 to 16.00 each day, except Sunday. The congregation will accommodate the exhibition in its midst for worship for the period it is on display.

There will be refreshments served each day and churches and Christian groups are invited to either book a time to visit or just drop in.

Schools and RE departments bringing a large number of pupils, both primary and secondary, are advised to book in advance so that guides and stewards may be available to help and support.

People can ring the Church Office on 01603 632535 to book or with enquiries or email Stephen Osborn at: sdosborn5@outlook.com
